One of the best desserts I have eaten in my life was a treacle tart. I do know that it was in England and I do know that it was delicious. I really don’t know why I was thinking of that, but that pleasant memory did give me a name for this font.

I am still learning my new font software, which is a bit of a slow process. The software I used for this font allows me to add several languages, which, hitherto, I couldn’t access.

So, in short, this is my most multilingual font ever: it even includes Vietnamese and a bit of Hiragana and Katakana for you to get creative with!

The ‘VanderHand’ font is a friendly and easy to use handwritten font. It is so loaded with ligatures it could easily pass for actual handwriting.
The font was created with a felt-tip brush pen and so there are natural thick and thin parts in the characters. All writing was done upright with tightly fit characters. As a result this font has a unique ‘instant logo’ quality. But you should really try this out for yourself.

O, and the font was written by Jeroen van der Ham.
It’s his handwriting. That’s why it’s called VanderHand.

Lachrymose is a word that stems from ‘lacrima’, the Latin word for tear. It means ‘tearful’, or ‘given to weeping’. Now, before y’all think I am depressed or so - I am not. I just like the sound of this word and the way it is written. All I needed to do was to build a font for it!

Lachrymose is a handmade brush font. I used my fantastic Chinese ink and a cheap brush to create the glyphs. Lachrymose is a display font, so use it for anything display-ish.

Tenacious Brush is an expressive font, provocative, free spirited and wild hearted.
It’s an all-caps face, with 4 alternates for each letter and 2 for each numeral — some letters also have stylistic choices. For that spontaneous hand-painted feel, you know. Turn on the contextual alternates feature to automatically cycle all these variety of glyphs. Or pick your choices manually, a task that’s that nowadays is truly fun with the ease offered by some applications when the font has a feature called ‘access all alternates’, which is absolutely the case here! If working in Adobe applications, for example, just select a glyph and you’ll see the other options for that one. Love it!
